Awesome pictures

I was very impressed with this Camera. I followed some advice from those before me and make sure the camera was attached securely. It was a great picture all the way through. It was easy to carry and had a good price. It saved a lot of money from having a plumbers come out and keep looking and not seeing anything. We found it a fiber optic line shattered the plumbing pipe.

Works great

I purchased this sewer camera and used it for the first time to inspect the clean-out in my backyard in both directions. The compact size makes it easy to maneuver, the image quality is pretty good, and the controls are easy to use. It also charges well, and so far I haven't had any issues with the battery running out during use.I haven't used it extensively yet, but so far, I'm happy with the product.

Easy to use and affordable

This inspection camera was the perfect tool for the job and worth the cost after just one use. It quickly went down a 2" shower drain and I found the blockage in just a few minutes. Worth every penny

Costs less than a return from the plumber!

Sink backed up, hydrojetted to end of my 23 foot hose with improvement, plumber quoted $350 to inspect with sewer camera. Purchased this camera and was able to locate residual of clog just past 24 feet, pushed through it with several passes of camera to break it up, and after dumping a couple of buckets of water down the drain, camera showed it was gone. Then ran camera all the way out from under the house halfway down driveway 48 feet and was able to map my drain line from 1.5" pipe entering wall under sink to 2" drain connecting to 3" wye eventually all the way to 4" wye into house main common drain trunk. I was able to download almost 4GB of still photos and video from camera's micro SD card to my computer hard drive for my records, with plenty more room left on the 32GB card. For less than the cost of one plumber visit now I can camera my drain lines as often as needed.I used the smaller 25mm protective rounded plastic cover to try to pass tight bends more easily - I did not notice it has three set screws to secure to the camera head and only tightened one, but luckily it held. As others have noted, shorter push and pulls back and forth worked better than longer ones to pass two 90 degree tight bends. I also cut thick plastic hanger leaving about an inch of the curved hockey stick end and inserted this over the top of the camera along the horizontal 1.5" sink drain passing into the wall and twisted the end of the hanger to push the camera head down the first tight 90 degree bend into the vertical 2" drain tee to get it to pass. Before I inserted the camera, I also marked one foot intervals with a silver sharpie marker on the cable using band and dot patterns to create a binary numbered depth gauge. This worked better during insertion to read depths into the videos I saved, as the markings tend to get rubbed off during extraction. I wiped down the cable after use and remarked the intervals before putting it away so I would have them available for the next time. I was careful feeding the the cable back into the reel not to let it rub against the sides of the guide loop so they wouldn't be wiped off. I was able to mark the cable to 63 feet, as the last two feet or so does not come out of the reel cage due to it's attachment.

Our kitchen sink has been notorious for clogging. I would snake it but it would only be a temporary fix. A plumber was too expensive and Home Depot wanted $300 to rent a camera. Boy am I glad I found this sewer camera. It is great quality for the price and at a lower cost I now have an excellent tool to use whenever I need it. The camera quality was excellent. I tested it in the lint tube connected to the dryer. I found the clog in water, and found out snaking bored a hole through the clog, but never cleared everything. I now have a pressure washer attachment to clean out the rest. So glad I found this to help me SEE the issue rather than guess at what is going on. A quality investment even if I only use it once.

Was skeptical when I ordered the camera but after using it a couple of times I am totally sold on the price, the clarity and function of the camera. Perfect I searched for 3 days and settled on the s5517d.
Thank you saved me much money on repair by seeing where the pipe had rusted out.
Thanks mike

Great product and worked Great

This arrived very quickly and I needed it as my main sewer line was plugged exiting my home toward septic tank. Was able to view the line to the plug where clay pipe had separated and dropped. Was able to measure the distance and dug down to expose. Cut clay pipe out and installed fernco fitting to add cleanout and solved problem. Very useful tool and will be handy for myself, family and friends. Thanks

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE

I bought this system as a replacement to a very expensive system that failed. I am not a professional inspector but I'm an excavation contractor and use this machine to check our work. Very solid system and customer service is top notch, My original camera broke and they returned my email in hours and had a new camera on the way the next day. GREAT SUPPORT.

Great for stubborn blockages and lost tool retrieval.

While snaking a main line of a residence a brand new large tool head on the power snake popped off. When recovered it was found that it was manufactured wrong and the retaining pin on the snake cable end only partially seated and though you could not pull it off by hand it self ejected in the 4" ABS (plastic) drain. The tool was approximately 1/2 the size of the drain diameter and absolutely had to be recovered.Because the main drain was plastic, we decided to attempt to retrieve the tool, using a high strength magnet and a camera. We also wanted the camera because we could not get the drain to clear in spite of repetitive power snaking and we needed to see what the actual problem was.Bought this particular camera because it was actually made by a company that specializes in drain cameras and I thought I was more likely to get replacement parts if needed in the future. Also, since they made popular high-end drain cameras, they likely understood how to make one that was actually useful. I found this camera to be excellent for a consumer grade product. I would imagine it would be good as a light duty professional unit too. Not being a plumber I don't know..We received it and set it up, which was very simple. You can clearly see inside the pipes except when the section is completely flooded, but after using it for a while , if the water is clear enough you could still make out enough detail to have some idea what you were seeing even when the camera was completely submerged. We quickly found the tool. That part was easy. Then noted how many feet of video cable was out using the markings that are provided on the side of the camera cable. We then removed the blade from a different snake tool that the blade fastened on with a single screw on the face. We used that screw that had held the blade to a attached a short length of plumber tape centered in place of the cutting blade to the face in this tool and attached a 70 pound pull high grade ( n53) rare earth magnet that was approximately 3/4 " diameter by 1 inch long by folding the plumbers tape up the sides of the magnet and then putting a hose clamp over everything to hold the magnet in place . The magnet was bought from a rare earth magnet supplier online, ( google) and put now magnetic power snake tool on the power snake cable. We then laid the power snake cable out and marked out the same length as noted from the camera with electrical tape on the snake. We shoved snake down the drain until we got to length marked out previously with electrical tape, running the power snake when we got to sweeps etc that we couldn't navigate without rotating the power snake. Then we fed the camera down the line till we could see the magnet at the end of the snake cable.Next we advanced both one at a time till we saw the delinquent detached cutter blade. Hooked it with the magnet and slowly worked it through sweeps and waste tees till we got it out of the clean out. The delinquent blade managed to hang on every waste tee and pull off the magnet at each one but with a clear image of what was going on from the camera you could nudge it this way and that because the magnet was so strong and eventually get past the opening. Time consuming but so much easier other options. Best $'s spent in a long time. After retrieving the tool, we then used the camera to find the clog. Which turned out to be a mineral blockage caused by our very hard water, combining with the caustic discharge of the dishwasher. Fortunately, the mineral blockage wasn't very hard, but hard enough that the snake just went over it rather than chewing it up. Once we knew exactly where the blockage was, we were able to run the snake exactly there until it finally broke things up. The resulting chunks managed to cause blockages several more times, but we found them with the camera and it was rinse and repeat until the system was cleared. Hope this helps somebody.

This is a great camera for the price!

I had a stubborn blockage in a residential drain line. After numerous attempts to clear, I decided to order this inspection camera to see what was in the pipe. After a little learning curve on how to maneuver the camera inside the pipe, I was able to make my way to the blockage. The camera had good visibility allowing me to see the buildup inside the pipe and all the turns I needed to maneuver through. After knowing more from the camera inspection, I was able to get to the blockage and work through it. I sent the camera through a few times to check my progress in breaking up the blockage. I learned to be gentle while maneuvering through the pipes, the camera will make the turns but it works better to work through the turn slow and steady rather than forcefully. I am ready for my next project using it in HVAC ductwork to locate issues. Great camera set up and easy to use. It arrived quickly after I ordered.
