Plumbing Camera Real-Life Test: S830ASMKT & S68R Review and Demo

Introduction & What to Expect

Hi friends! Today, we're going to inspect sewer pipes using the Sanyipace plumbing camera. We'll unbox it, check out its features, and most importantly—put it to the test. So don’t miss this review!

Unboxing the Sanyipace plumbing camera kit with wheeled cart

Unboxing the Plumbing Camera Kit

Right out of the box, you’ll notice this drain inspection camera comes with a wheeled cart—a huge plus for mobility. The kit includes a reel with 50 meters of cable, but 75m and 100m versions are also available depending on your needs.

Unlike many competing models, the control unit is stored in a detachable case, which provides flexibility during inspection. Check out this helpful guide on how plumbing cameras work.

Key features:

  • Real-time meter counter (very useful!)

  • Suitable for pipes from 40mm to 120mm in diameter

  • Equipped with 24 LED lights, which means excellent illumination

  • Waterproof

  • Self-leveling camera head—so no matter how the cable twists, the image always stays upright

Opening the Control Case

Firstly, I want to unlock the latch below and remove the control case so I can show you what’s inside.

Taking it out is simple—just release the latch and pull it forward slightly. The cable is flexible and gives you plenty of maneuverability.
Inside we have:

  • The monitor and control panel

  • Instruction manual

  • A detachable keyboard with a long cable, so you can place it wherever it's convenient

  • Below the keyboard: charging cables and several camera accessories
There’s also a wheel attachment for inspecting pipes 100mm and up.

Setting Up the Drain Camera Head

It’s super easy. Just remove the cap on the cable, slide the flexible camera head on, and secure it using the locking screws. If you're working with larger pipes (up to 120mm), attach the larger head that comes with it.
The plumbing camera also includes a 16GB micro SD card for recording video and taking snapshots. Power it on with the button, and you’re ready to go!

512Hz Locator

Check this out—this isn’t a Star Trek laser gun, it’s the locator! It helps us find clogs or damage, which syncs with the plumbing camera, and we’ll test it out shortly.
It comes in a dedicated case, and setting it up is easy. Just connect the parts, tighten the screws, and it's good to go.

Field Use: Real Test with Drain Inspection Camera

Now let’s go outside and test this drain inspection camera in a real pipe. We’re now fully illuminated and can clearly see the pipe interior. I’m also starting the recording so you can view everything on screen.
The image is crystal clear. We’ve got the LED brightness at level 5 and can even zoom in for more detail. You’ll be impressed by the video quality. We’ve just reached an intersection at 3.84 meters.

Let’s continue. You can see a transition from PVC to a cement pipe. At 6... now 7 meters... the clarity is still excellent. Let me reduce the brightness a bit using F6—down to level 3—and continue. We’re spotting debris, but the camera smoothly passes through. The pipe is clean, which makes sense—it was recently flushed. Now I’ll remove the camera and demonstrate the locator.

Sewer Camera Locator Demo: Finding the Camera Underground

After navigating the pipe, we activate the locator to pinpoint the camera’s underground position. As we move closer, the signal beeps intensify. The screen displays a clear signal, confirming the exact location of the camera—right at a cement intersection leading to the drainage basin.

This precise locating feature is invaluable for identifying clogs or leaks before excavation. We also added an on-screen text note: "Pipe Located", a helpful feature during customer reports or inspections.
