SUPER Affordable Sewer Camera Review - S8951DSTM
Hey, this is Gary from Ultra Plumbing and Drain Cleaning. As a drain cleaning company, we often need a camera to inspect sewer lines. And if you’ve ever looked for one, you know sewer cameras can get incredibly expensive very fast.
So, when our friends at Sanyipace asked us to check out their camera and give an honest review, I said, “Sure.”
If you’re considering a more affordable sewer camera and wondering whether it’s worth it, I’ll try to answer that in this video.

Sewer Camera Setup and First Impressions
When we received the camera, setup was quick. It took about two hours to fully charge the unit.
You simply install the camera head, connect the reel to the monitor using the included cord, and you’re ready to go.
It’s easy to reel the camera in and out—just make sure it’s on level ground, so the reel doesn’t snag. I found it convenient to set up the camera to the left of the cleanout, pulling the reel from the right.

The interface is simple and intuitive. It records both video and audio and can also take still photos.
It comes with a 9-inch 1080p monitor, and the image looks sharp. The package includes a micro SD card (16GB or 32GB).
Although the unit records audio, it doesn’t have built-in speakers, so playback doesn’t include sound. To transfer footage, you’ll need to remove the SD card and use a computer or adapter. That’s a small trade-off compared to pricier models that use Bluetooth, but it’s manageable.
Sewer Camera and Cable Details
The unit includes a distance counter that measures either in feet or meters. It tracks distance from the spool, not the head, but you can easily reset it to zero during use.
The camera head features self-leveling technology, is IP68 waterproof, and has a scratch-resistant front lens.
It’s surrounded by LED lights with four brightness levels, giving a clear image even in dark pipes.
A standout feature is the built-in 512Hz transmitter, which lets you locate the camera head underground using any compatible locator. Combined with the meter counter, it’s easy to know exactly where the camera is inside the line.

The cable is 5 mm thick and comes in either 100 ft or 165 ft versions. I recommend the 100 ft option—it’s rare you’ll need to push such a thin cable 165 ft.
For reference, a RIDGID SeeSnake cable is 11 mm thick, and the micro version is 6.7 mm. The Milwaukee cables are around 10–12 mm depending on the model. So, this Sanyipace cable is thinner and more flexible, great for smaller or tighter pipes.
Regardless of brand, plumbing cameras are delicate tools. Always handle them carefully to ensure longevity.
Performance and Usability of the Plumbing Camera
One of the best features of this drain inspection camera is its portability.
It’s light, compact, and easy to carry onto a roof or into tight spaces, unlike bulkier systems that require more room.
Overall, I think it’s a solid unit with only a few minor drawbacks:
-
No Bluetooth connectivity (though using the SD card is simple).
-
The camera head could handle bumps slightly better, but that’s common across many systems.
You can always access the pipe from another cleanout if you encounter major obstructions.

Value and Conclusion
At the time of this review, the Sanyipace S8951DSTM sewer camera costs around $699 on their official website. They often run discounts and special offers, and we even have a $50 off coupon code available.

Overall, this system is affordable, reliable, and user-friendly. It’s easy to repair and maintain because many components are replaceable—something that’s rare with other brands. For the price, the performance is impressive. If you’re looking for a practical sewer camera for everyday plumbing or drain inspection work, this is a strong choice.
