A Must-Have Tool for Sewer Inspection - Sanyipace S8951DM Sewer Camera

This review blog post is based on the review video "A must-have tool for sewer inspection - Sanyipace sewer inspection camera" released on the YouTube channel "Built by Ben". The following content is the reviewer's experience sharing during actual use of the product and represents only their personal opinion.

Hello, it’s Ben here—welcome back to the channel. Today I’ve been sent something genuinely exciting, so let’s unbox it and take a proper look.

Sanyipace got in contact with me and asked if I’d like to try one of their sewer inspection tools. I couldn’t really say no, especially since I’d been looking at this type of equipment about a month ago. For someone involved in building and renovation work, this is exactly the kind of tool that grabs my attention.

Straight out of the box, this is a serious sewer inspection kit. Inside, you get the S8951DM Sewer Camera reel, monitor unit, various attachments, and accessories that clearly show it’s designed for real-world use—not just occasional DIY.

    Setup & First Impressions

Once everything is connected, powering it on is straightforward. The unit even had some charge out of the box, which was a nice surprise.

As soon as the sewer camera came on, the image was clear on the screen. One thing I noticed immediately is that the camera is self-leveling. Even when twisting the cable, the image stays upright, which makes a huge difference during inspections.

    Image Quality & Camera Performance

The picture quality is genuinely impressive—sharp, clear, and easy to interpret. That’s exactly what you need when identifying issues inside a pipe.

The kit includes multiple attachments, including a centering (wheel) system that lifts the sewer camera off the bottom of the pipe. It requires loosening a couple of small grub screws to install, but once fitted, it makes a noticeable difference.

    Why the Centering System Matters

This centering system is actually the main reason I was interested in this camera.

I previously bought a cheaper inspection camera, and it was honestly rubbish. The camera twisted constantly, the image was disorientating, and it dragged along the bottom of the pipe, getting dirty almost immediately. That made it very difficult to see anything clearly.

With this system, the wheels keep the drain camera elevated and centered in a 4-inch pipe. The lens stays clean, and the footage remains usable throughout the inspection. For larger pipes, there’s also a spider-style attachment for even better centering.

    Real-World Testing in Pipes

To test it properly, I dropped the camera into a brand-new pipe. I wasn’t expecting major blockages, but it was a good way to evaluate how smoothly it travels and handles bends.

As you can see, it moves through the pipe effortlessly—even around turns—without struggling. The footage stays clear, and the image remains correctly oriented instead of twisting around.

I did spot a few bits of debris along the way—likely something my daughters dropped—as well as a spider and a small spider’s nest. Everything was clearly visible on the screen.

    Cable Length & Inspection Capability

The sewer camera provides a detailed view of the pipe interior. This unit comes with a 50-meter cable, which is more than enough for most inspections. Realistically, you’d usually reach another inspection chamber before needing the full length.

    Recording Features & Storage

Another great feature is the ability to record video and take photos directly from the unit. If you’re inspecting a customer’s drain, you can capture exactly what you find and show it afterward.

The unit supports an SD card, and it even includes a 32GB card in the box, so you’re ready to go straight away.

    Lighting, Durability & Maintenance

The LED lighting is adjustable, with multiple brightness levels, and can also be turned off if needed.

The pipeline camera is rated IP68, meaning it can handle water exposure without issues. After use, you can simply wash it down with warm water, and it’s ready for the next job.

    Overall Verdict

    S8951DM Sewer Camera

Overall, this is a very well-thought-out inspection camera system. It’s ideal for diagnosing drainage problems, carrying out routine inspections, or showing customers proof that their drains have been properly cleaned.

If you clean drains professionally, being able to provide before-and-after footage is a massive advantage.

This is the exact model linked in the description. You get a 50-meter reel neatly stored underneath, with the monitor and controls housed in a compact, laptop-style case on top—everything in one place.
