How to Diagnose and Fix Keyboard Issues?

Sewer inspection cameras are essential tools for plumbers, contractors, and maintenance professionals. They allow for precise inspections in pipelines, drains, and underground systems, often in tight, hard-to-reach spaces. One crucial component of a sewer camera system is the keyboard, used to input text annotations, control settings, or operate sewer camera functions.

However, like any hardware, the keyboard may sometimes malfunction. Whether you are using a USB keyboard, a Bluetooth keyboard, or an integrated keyboard, knowing how to troubleshoot these problems can save you time, money, and frustration.

In this blog, we’ll walk through the common causes and practical solutions for sewer camera keyboard issues.

Understanding the Types of Keyboards Used in Sanyipace Sewer Cameras

Before diving into troubleshooting, it’s important to understand what kind of keyboard your sewer camera uses:

    • USB Keyboard: A standard physical keyboard connected via a USB-A or USB-C port.
    • Bluetooth Keyboard: A wireless keyboard that connects through Bluetooth pairing.
    • Integrated Keyboard: A built-in panel keyboard attached to the control box unit of the sewer inspection camera.

Each type has its own set of potential problems, so proper diagnosis depends on knowing the hardware.

Corresponding Solutions for Different Types of Keyboards

    💬1. USB Keyboard Not Working

    Step-by-Step Troubleshooting:

Step 1: Check if there is any Obvious Damage to the Accessories

    • Make sure the keyboard cable is not broken.
    • Make sure the keyboard keys are not damaged
    • Check for USB Port Damage

    Step 2: Check the Connection

    • Make sure the USB is firmly inserted into the port.
    • Try disconnecting and reconnecting. If the plumbing camera has multiple USB ports, try another one.

Step 3: Test the Keyboard on Another Device and Use a Laptop or PC Keyboard in the Sewer Camera USB Port

    • Plug the USB keyboard into a laptop or PC.

            - If it works, the issue lies with the drain camera USB port circuit board.

            - If it doesn’t work on any device, the keyboard might be damaged.

    • Plug a laptop or PC keyboard into the sewer camera USB Port.

           - If it works, the keyboard might be damaged.

           - If it doesn’t work on anyway, the issue lies with the drain camera USB port circuit board.

Step 4: Replace the Keyboard or USB port

          - If the USB port is confirmed faulty, replace it with a new USB port.

          - If the keyboard is confirmed faulty, replace it with a new keyboard.

    💬3. Bluetooth Keyboard Not Working

Step 1: Check if the keyboard is out of power

Step 2: Check the Bluetooth pairing failure, and unplug and replug the USB Bluetooth receiver

If the sewer camera and keyboard have sufficient power, and already unplugged and replugged the Bluetooth receiver, it still does not work properly, the keyboard is likely broken. Please contact our after-sales customer service.

💬4. Integrated (Built-In) Keyboard Not Working

    Sewer Camera KeyboardStep-by-Step Troubleshooting:

Step 1: Check for Physical Damage

    • Inspect the keys: Are any buttons stuck or unresponsive? Look for cracks or signs of water damage under the protective cover.

    Step 2: Test Functionality

    • Try pressing each key individually to see which ones work.

    Step 3: Contact Manufacturer Support

    • Integrated keyboards often require specialized parts or servicing. If the sewer camera is under warranty, please don’t attempt to disassemble it—this could void the warranty.

General Tips for Maintaining Your Sewer Camera Keyboard

    • To prevent keyboard failure, follow these maintenance practices:
    • Use Waterproof Covers: Especially if you're using an external USB keyboard in wet environments.
    • Keep Ports Clean: Use compressed air to remove dust from USB ports.
    • Avoid Dropping the Unit: Many built-in keyboard issues stem from internal shock damage.
    • Charge Bluetooth Devices Regularly: Low battery levels often cause erratic behavior.

    Final Thoughts

The keyboard, though sometimes overlooked, plays a critical role in a sewer camera system’s functionality. Whether you're dealing with a faulty USB port, laggy Bluetooth, or damaged built-in keys, most issues can be resolved with a structured troubleshooting approach.

Always remember: prevention is better than a cure. Proper maintenance, using high-quality accessories, and avoiding harsh environments when possible can extend the lifespan of your sewer camera and its peripherals.

⭕A normal minor phenomenon: When the sewer camera is in a blue screen state, even if the keyboard can work normally, the keyboard function cannot be displayed in the blue screen state.
