When Should I Choose a Robotic Crawler Instead of a Push-Rod Camera?
Choose a robotic crawler when inspecting large-diameter pipes in which a conventional push-rod camera would sit along the bottom or become difficult to advance. Crawlers are especially useful for industrial sewers, municipal pipelines, and other infrastructure that requires powered movement and controlled wall-to-wall viewing.
For residential drains and most smaller commercial lines, a push-rod camera is usually easier to transport, faster to deploy, and more economical. The U99360, for example, is intended for pipes with a recommended minimum diameter of approximately 11.81 inches (300 mm), so it should not be treated as a replacement for an everyday plumbing camera.
