Narrow down your search with a slow 360° rotation. The S88R’s on-screen signal display and audio feedback help you identify the strongest response and establish the approximate direction of the underground transmitter.
Nine adjustable sensitivity levels help keep signal changes distinguishable as you search.
Follow the Signal. Pinpoint the Problem Area.
Narrow a broad search area down to a marked location above the underground transmitter. As you move closer, the S88R's on-screen signal strength and audio feedback help you follow the increasing response.
Gently sweep approximately 30° to each side: the strongest central signal, with similar readings on both sides, indicates you are near directly above the transmitter. Mark this spot to establish a reference for depth measurement and repair planning.
Keep the sensitivity at the same level when comparing readings.

Once the target is pinpointed, hold the S88R upright and still, then press the DEPTH button to view the approximate depth of the blockage location—giving your repair plan another useful reference.
Confirm a stable reading with 2–3 measurements at the same point to better understand where the target sits underground.
For more reliable readings, the locator-to-transmitter distance should exceed 0.8 m / 2.6 ft. Site conditions may affect results.

Yes, if your camera has a compatible 512 Hz transmitter and it is switched on. A meter counter alone is not enough. If you’re unsure, send us your camera model and transmitter details before ordering.
S88R 512 Hz Sewer Camera Locator estimates the depth of the transmitter inside the camera head or sonde. Position the camera near the blockage first, then locate it from above ground and check the depth reading. The S88R does not detect the blockage itself.
You may not be directly above the transmitter, or interference may be affecting the signal. Locate the target first, keep the camera still, then hold the S88R depth locator upright and steady. Repeat the reading at the same spot to check consistency.
Plumbers, drain-cleaning professionals, and repair contractors who need to locate a camera underground and check its approximate depth. It is especially useful when planning where to access a damaged or blocked pipe.
All three locate compatible active 512 Hz transmitters. The main upgrade with the S88R is an approximate depth reading. The S58R and S68R help locate the transmitter using signal feedback but do not display its depth. Choose the S88R if you need both location and depth information for repair planning.
